This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, and is effective for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in the treatment and prevention of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is effective not only for treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs but also for treating and preventing gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also utilized in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
