Improved blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is suitable for patients with type 2 diabetes who are using sitagliptin and metformin together, helping to control blood sugar levels. When taking this medication along with dietary and exercise therapies, blood sugar levels can be effectively managed. Therefore, it is used to improve blood sugar control.
This medication is generally taken twice a day with food, and the dose is gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. 1. For patients not currently receiving metformin: Start with an initial dose of this medication 50/500 mg taken twice a day, 1 tablet each time, and can be increased to 50/1000 mg taken twice a day, 1 tablet each time. 2. For patients currently treated with metformin: Recommended initial dosage is based on the existing dosages of sitagliptin and metformin.
This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and contains two components, sitagliptin and metformin. When taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur; thus, if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing arise, you should immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor. There is a risk of pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas; if severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever occurs, you should immediately inform your healthcare provider. The metformin component can rarely cause dangerous lactic acidosis, so if symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle pain, malaise, or abdominal pain occur, you should stop taking the medication immediately and visit a hospital. Patients with significantly reduced kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, or heart failure should not use this medication. This medication should not be given to women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or to nursing mothers. Regular kidney function and blood tests should be performed during treatment, and it is advisable to periodically check vitamin B12 levels. Symptoms of hypoglycemia may appear if blood sugar levels drop too low, so meals should be regular, and sudden exercise or alcohol consumption should be avoided. When taken with other medications, there may be drug interactions, so be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medications you are currently taking. If undergoing surgery or tests involving contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and should only be resumed after confirming that kidney function is normal. During treatment with this medication, if sudden joint pain, skin blisters or other abnormal symptoms occur, you should immediately consult a healthcare provider. In elderly patients, kidney function may be weakened, requiring dosage adjustment and regular monitoring. In the case of an overdose, you should immediately visit a hospital for appropriate treatment; blood dialysis may be helpful.
