For patients not currently treated with metformin: Start with an initial dose of this medication 50/500 mg twice daily, taking one tablet at a time, and may increase to 50/1000 mg twice daily, taking one tablet at a time. 2. Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Firstly, while taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, immediate discontinuation and consultation with a doctor are necessary. Additionally, this medication may cause acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea arise, immediate medical attention should be sought. Patients with very poor kidney function or severe infections, dehydration, or heart failure may be at risk if taking this medication, and it should not be administered. Before and after tests using radiographic iodine contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued due to the risk of kidney damage, and may only be resumed once normal kidney function is confirmed. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not use this medication. While taking this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur, so especially when taken in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, careful monitoring of blood sugar changes is required. Furthermore, due to the metformin component, this medication may cause a rare but serious metabolic disorder known as lactic acidosis, so regular checks of kidney function and vitamin B12 levels should be performed. Excessive alcohol consumption, acute illnesses, or perioperative periods may require temporary discontinuation of this medication, with resumption once conditions stabilize. During the use of this medication, it is important to maintain a consistent diet and exercise regimen and to have regular blood sugar and kidney function tests. Finally, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if any abnormal symptoms or discomfort arise while taking this medication.
