Efficacy & effects
Preoperative stabilization treatment for hyperthyroidism
View approved original textHide original text
This medication is used to stabilize symptoms and control the secretion of thyroid hormones prior to surgery for hyperthyroidism. It primarily attempts to suppress hormone production by administering antithyroid drugs and alleviates cardiac symptoms with beta-blockers if necessary. Additionally, the patient's thyroid function is monitored until it stabilizes to ensure the safety of the surgery. This pre-treatment process is crucial for reducing complications during surgery and promoting recovery. Therefore, preoperative treatment for hyperthyroidism ensures the patient's safety through hormone regulation and symptom alleviation.
