This medication is used for patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The usual dose of this medication is one tablet of Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. A dose exceeding 100 mg of Losartan Potassium/25 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide per day is not preferred. 1. If blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy using Losartan or Hydrochlorothiazide: Start with Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience in using this medication in children and adolescents, so Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to them.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus, especially if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, or who have certain kidney conditions, liver impairment, electrolyte imbalance, or are pregnant or potentially pregnant should not take this medication. If pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, it is vital to consult healthcare professionals, and breastfeeding may need to be discontinued due to potential side effects to the child from this medication. Safety for children and adolescents has not been established, and use in these groups is not recommended. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema (swelling of lips and eyelids and facial rash), difficulty breathing, angioedema (glottis/laryngeal swelling that may cause airway obstruction, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue), vasculitis, anaphylactic reaction, severe cutaneous adverse reactions (severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, mucous membrane syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), and exfoliative dermatitis.
