This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise. It is suitable for patients who have not previously received diabetes medication treatment or who have difficulty controlling blood sugar with monotherapy. Moreover, it is used in combination when sufficient efficacy is not obtained from monotherapy with metformin or sitagliptin. It is also effective when used together with other diabetes medications such as sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin when blood sugar control is difficult. In summary, this drug is used for the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes who have difficulty controlling blood sugar with various single or combination therapies.

How to take

Adult dose

The 100/1000 mg sustained release tablet is taken once daily, one tablet at a time. Patients taking the 50/500 mg sustained release tablet or the 50/1000 mg sustained release tablet should take two tablets at a time once daily. 1. For patients currently not on metformin treatment: The initial dosage is a total daily dose of 100 mg sitagliptin and 1000 mg metformin. Gradually increase the metformin dose.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, and is used in the treatment of diabetes. While taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur rarely. If you experience symptoms such as skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Pancreatitis can cause inflammation of the pancreas; if symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever occur, visit a hospital immediately. This medication should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, dehydration, severe infections, or heart failure, and should be discontinued for a period before and after surgery. It is safe for pregnant or possibly pregnant women and nursing mothers not to take this medication. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so it is advisable to eat regularly and avoid vigorous exercise or alcohol consumption.
