Prevention of inflammation and cystoid macular edema after cataract surgery, and improvement of anterior segment inflammation
This medication is used to prevent inflammation and intraoperative miosis during cataract surgery, as well as to prevent cystoid macular edema related to lens extraction and intraocular lens implantation. It is also effective in treating chronic conjunctivitis and non-infectious inflammation following trauma in the anterior segment. Therefore, it is used to reduce post-surgical inflammation, assist in the recovery of the eye, and improve various ocular inflammatory conditions.
1. During cataract surgery - Preoperative: 1 drop 5 times in 3 hours - Immediately after surgery: 1 drop 3 times - Maintenance therapy: 1 drop 3-5 times a day, duration varies according to symptoms. 2. Treatment of anterior segment inflammation 1 drop 4-5 times a day, adjust as appropriate according to symptoms.
This medicine should not be used in patients with known allergies to any component of this medication or in those who have had asthma, itching, or acute rhinitis symptoms after using acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is advisable not to administer this medication to pregnant women after six months of pregnancy. Caution is necessary for patients who have experienced allergic reactions to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs when using this medication. This medication may delay wound healing and can rarely cause nausea or vomiting. Allergic reactions such as asthma symptoms, itching, and acute rhinitis may occasionally occur. Temporary symptoms such as eye pain, dryness, redness, dilated pupils, keratitis, or blurred vision may occur, so if there are any abnormal symptoms, usage should be immediately discontinued, and a doctor should be consulted. Irritation to the eye may occur temporarily, and itching or redness and blurred vision may appear right after instillation. Frequent use of this medication can increase the risk of inflammation or damage to the cornea. Particular care is needed for patients using corticosteroids or those at risk of corneal disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis patients, as prolonged use can lead to corneal ulceration or edema. Rarely, respiratory distress or exacerbation of asthma has been reported, so caution is warranted for patients with respiratory diseases. Various allergic reactions such as allergic conjunctivitis, eyelid edema, urticaria, and rash may occur, so usage should be immediately discontinued if symptoms occur. Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses; lenses should be removed before instillation and can be reinserted at least 15 minutes afterward. Since vision may be temporarily blurred after instillation, driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided until vision is clear. This medication may mask the symptoms of ocular infections, so it should be used in conjunction with appropriate treatment when there is a risk of infection. Bleeding time may be prolonged, so patients with bleeding disorders or taking medications that induce bleeding should be cautious. When using multiple eye drops, they should be administered at least 5 minutes apart to avoid drug interactions. Blocking the nasolacrimal duct or closing the eyes after instillation can reduce the risk of side effects by minimizing systemic absorption. This medication contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative, so it may discolor soft contact lenses or cause eye inflammation, requiring caution. When using with other eye drops, a gap of more than 15 minutes should be maintained between usages, and it is best not to use it concurrently with certain medications. From the sixth month of pregnancy onward, it should not be used as it may be harmful to the fetus, and it is advisable to avoid usage during breastfeeding as well. Safety for children has not been established, so it is recommended not to use in pediatric patients. This medication is for ophthalmic use only and should not be injected directly into the eye. Care should be taken to prevent contamination by avoiding direct contact of the container opening with the eye.
