This medication is suitable for patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy using amlodipine or losartan. Furthermore, for patients with stage 2 hypertension who require combination therapy to reach the target blood pressure, this medication can be used from the start to effectively manage blood pressure. In other words, this medication is utilized as a combination drug for the treatment of hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, this medication 5/50 milligrams is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is still not adequately controlled after 2 weeks of administration, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 milligrams once daily.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so the administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause severe harm or even fatal outcomes to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. Therefore, it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with reduced blood volume, such as those on diuretics, may experience hypotension when starting this medication and should be monitored carefully. It should not be administered to patients who are allergic to any components of this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe aortic stenosis, or patients in a state of shock. Caution should be exercised in patients with reduced blood volume, strict salt restriction, severe renal impairment, or hyperkalemia, with close monitoring by healthcare personnel as necessary. Dizziness or headaches may occur while taking this medication, necessitating caution during hazardous activities such as working at heights or driving. If any unusual symptoms or allergic reactions occur while taking the medication, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is required, particularly if serious allergic reactions such as angioedema arise. Co-administration with other antihypertensive agents or specific medications may enhance effects or increase the risk of side effects, so patients must inform healthcare providers about all medications being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed, it must be stopped immediately. The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients have not been established, and its use is not recommended. Severe hypotension or heart-related issues can occur in cases of overdose, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to, and medical attention must be sought immediately in the event of overdose. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to a different container is not recommended.
