This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy using amlodipine or losartan. It is also applied as initial treatment in stage 2 hypertension patients who require combination therapy to achieve treatment goals. This helps effectively manage blood pressure, reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications, and improve health.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Normally, this 5/50 mg tablet is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 2 weeks of administration, the dose may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so the use of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness, peripheral edema, dyspepsia, pruritus, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, dyspnea may occur, and patients should consult a healthcare professional immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. Since blood pressure may drop causing dizziness while taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid hazardous activities such as working at heights or driving. Patients with liver or kidney impairment may need dosage adjustment, requiring regular check-ups. This medication can raise potassium levels, so when taken with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, serum potassium levels should be carefully monitored. Combining with other antihypertensive medications may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects, thus should be used cautiously under the direction of healthcare professionals. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication, and it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years of age, and its use is not recommended. Overdosage can result in severe hypotension and tachycardia, so dosing must be strictly adhered to, and medical assistance should be sought immediately if symptoms occur. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers for safety.
