Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis) and eradication of Helicobacter pylori in peptic ulcers, as well as relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and is effective not only for the treatment of erosive esophagitis but also for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of GERD without esophagitis. It is used in the combination therapy of antibiotics for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and gastric ulcers in patients who are positive for Helicobacter pylori and in preventing recurrence. This medication is also suitable for treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms caused by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers associated with these drugs. It is effective in treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome as well as in maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding after the initial bleeding caused by gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or treatment is not effective, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is required. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment for GERD without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older - For the treatment of erosive esophagitis: administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or treatment is not effective, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is required. - For GERD without esophagitis.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific ingredients or who have experienced hypersensitivity to benzimidazole derivatives. Caution is also advised when co-administering with antibiotics in patients allergic to penicillin or macrolides. Patients taking certain heart-related medications or antivirals, those with a history of myocardial infarction, and breastfeeding women should avoid this medication for safety reasons. Patients allergic to Yellow No. 4 coloring agent should use this drug with caution. This medication can cause various side effects, including headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, skin rash, and symptoms should be discussed with a doctor immediately if they occur. Long-term use may pose risks, including hypomagnesemia, increased fracture risk, and increased risk of gastrointestinal infections, necessitating regular check-ups. As the medication lowers stomach acidity, interactions with other drugs can occur, especially when taken with anticoagulants, antivirals, or antibiotics, requiring caution. During pregnancy, safety data is limited, and it should be taken carefully under the direction of a physician, and it is recommended to avoid use while breastfeeding. There are no specific antidotes in case of overdose, so symptoms should be monitored, and appropriate treatment should be pursued. Finally, keep this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, encephalopathy, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Lyell syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), interstitial nephritis, severe allergic reactions, severe dermatologic reactions, severe skin rashes, severe edema, or urinary abnormalities
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disturbance, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, increased liver enzymes, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, muscle weakness, fatigue, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea, distension, allergic reactions, back pain, chest pain, substernal pain, facial swelling

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture entry. Additionally, it is recommended to store it at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C.
