View approved original text

Essential hypertension is a condition characterized by persistently high blood pressure; this medication helps control blood pressure, reducing the burden on the heart and blood vessels and aiding in the prevention of complications. It can lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke. It is effective in managing blood pressure consistently in patients and contributes to overall cardiovascular health improvement. Therefore, it is used in the treatment of essential hypertension.

This medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, and nausea, and rarely has been reported to cause angioedema, liver function abnormalities, hyperkalemia, or renal failure. If chronic diarrhea or weight loss occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician. Drug interactions may occur when taken concurrently with other antihypertensives, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., so be sure to inform healthcare providers. Pregnant women should not take this medication due to serious risks to the fetus, and breast-feeding mothers should consider discontinuing use or breast-feeding due to potential adverse effects on the infant.
