This medication is used for the treatment of degenerative joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, acute gout, and dysmenorrhea. It is also effective for conditions like bursitis, skeletal muscle disorders such as muscle sprains or strains, postoperative pain, migraines, and dental pain. Overall, it helps reduce the discomfort of patients by alleviating inflammation and pain in the joints and muscles.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis Take 250-500 mg of naproxen orally, twice daily (every 12 hours). 2. Acute gout For the initial dose, take 750 mg of naproxen orally, then continue with 250 mg every 8 hours until the attack is resolved. 3. Skeletal muscle disorders, postoperative pain, dental pain, dysmenorrhea, tendinitis, bursitis For the initial dose, take 500 mg of naproxen orally.

Precautions

This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding if taken by individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily; therefore, one should consult a doctor or pharmacist. As it contains a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory substance, it may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and serious cardiovascular problems such as myocardial infarction or stroke may occur, so patients with a history of cardiovascular disease or risk factors should exercise particular caution. Serious gastrointestinal adverse reactions, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, or perforation, can occur; thus, elderly individuals or those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders should use it more cautiously. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers, severe blood disorders, liver dysfunction, heart failure, kidney disorders, hypertension, or hypersensitivity to this medicine or similar components should not take it. Patients with a history of peptic ulcer, blood disorders, bleeding tendencies, liver dysfunction, kidney disorders, heart dysfunction, hypertension, hypersensitivity, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and the elderly should be monitored more carefully while taking this medication. Various adverse reactions, including hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal bleeding, blood disorders, liver and kidney abnormalities, neurological abnormalities, or skin rashes, may occur; if symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication should be taken at the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration possible, and patients with chronic diseases should have regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests. Patients experiencing severe fever or weakness should be carefully monitored after taking this medication. The risk of adverse reactions may increase when taken with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so concurrent usage should be avoided. There may be interactions with certain antihypertensives, diuretics, anticoagulants, and antibiotics, thus it is crucial to consult medical professionals. It should be avoided during pregnancy, particularly in the later stages, as it may harm the fetus, and nursing mothers should not take this drug. Safety has not been established for infants under two years old, and it is advisable not to administer it to them; elderly patients should particularly start with a lower dose and carefully monitor for adverse reactions. Overdose may lead to symptoms such as drowsiness, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting, for which immediate medical attention is required; it must be kept out of reach of children.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or naproxen derivatives. Caution is advised when taken with hydantoin-based antiepileptics, sulfonamides, sulfonylureas, propranolol and other beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, loop and thiazide diuretics, probenecid, aspirin, lithium, methotrexate, coumarin anticoagulants, zidovudine, and fluoroquinolone antibiotics; consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Storage
