Treatment for essential hypertension blood pressure control
This medication is primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is especially helpful in effectively managing blood pressure when added to patients who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure with Telmisartan alone.
For adult patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone, take one dose daily with or without food. It is recommended to adjust each component's dosage individually before switching to this fixed-dose combination medication. If clinically appropriate, it can be directly switched from monotherapy to this combination medication. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with 40 mg of Telmisartan. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with 80 mg of Telmisartan. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/25 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with a combination of 80 mg of Telmisartan and 12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide, whether single-component or combination therapy. Sodium or volume depletion should be corrected before starting this medication. 2. Patients with renal impairment No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min) should not receive this medication. Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended. 3. Patients with hepatic impairment In patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, this medication should be administered with caution. Do not exceed 40/12.5 mg per day. Patients with severe hepatic impairment should not receive this medication (see precautions 2). Thiazide diuretics should be administered carefully in patients with liver dysfunction. 4. Elderly No dosage adjustment is necessary. 5. Pediatrics The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years of age.

This medication can pose severe risks to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any component of this medication or those with certain liver or kidney disorders should not receive this medication. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels or weakened liver function should use this medication with extra caution. Hydrochlorothiazide can increase the risk of skin cancer, so it is important to reduce sun exposure and regularly check skin conditions. While taking this medication, symptoms such as dizziness, hypotension, and electrolyte imbalances may occur, so they should be monitored closely. It is particularly important to observe for excessively low blood pressure or any abnormalities in heart or kidney function, requiring regular testing. Interactions may occur if taken with other antihypertensives, lithium, diuretics, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so consult a physician. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and if planning to become pregnant, it is advisable to switch to a safer alternative. Overdose may lead to hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and dehydration symptoms, requiring immediate medical attention. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents as its safety has not been established. When taking this medication, store it out of reach of children and take it immediately after removing it from its sealed packaging.
