How to take

Adult dose

Generally taken orally, 2 tablets twice a day, regardless of meals, in the morning and before bed. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: 2 tablets twice a day or 4 tablets once a day before bed. Especially for patients with duodenal ulcers, taking 4 tablets twice a day in the morning and before bed shows higher treatment rates. The same dosage should be used for ulcers caused by NSAID administration or during long-term use.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis or with impaired renal function. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication or its components, acute porphyria, those who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, premature infants, and newborns, as well as patients on potassium-restricted diets. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of hypersensitivity, elderly patients, those with a history of kidney disorders, and patients who are taking NSAIDs should be cautious while using this medication, especially elderly patients or those with a history of peptic ulcers require regular monitoring. This medication can mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or newly developing dyspeptic symptoms who are middle-aged or older should verify the malignancy before use. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori should undergo eradication therapy concurrently. Severely ill patients in intensive care or those with hypophosphatemia, as well as patients with swallowing difficulties, should also use the medication cautiously. This medication can occasionally cause serious allergic reactions, hematological abnormalities, liver dysfunction, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological issues, breast-related symptoms, myalgia, skin rashes, and various side effects, so any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with medical personnel. It is advisable to avoid long-term use, and during treatment, regular checks on blood counts, liver function, and kidney function should be performed. Elderly patients or those with chronic lung disease, diabetes, and immunocompromised patients are at increased risk of pneumonia and should be monitored carefully. Furthermore, if dizziness or drowsiness occurs during use, drivers and those operating dangerous machinery should be cautious. This medication may affect the absorption, metabolism, and excretion of other drugs, which may necessitate dosage adjustments or cessation of concurrent medications. In particular, when used with coumarin anticoagulants, close monitoring of coagulation status is required. In addition, absorption inhibition may occur when combined with certain antibiotics or anticonvulsants, so it is recommended to space out administration. Safety has not been established for use in pregnant or lactating women, so it is recommended to avoid use. The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been sufficiently confirmed, thus it is preferable not to administer it. This medication can cause false-positive results in urine protein tests, so caution is needed during testing. In case of overdose, emergency measures such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary, and blood dialysis may be required to remove the drug if needed. This medication inhibits gastric acid secretion and may promote bacterial proliferation in the stomach and, with long-term use, may have the potential to bind with eye melanin, necessitating ophthalmological examinations.
