Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used for diabetes treatment. Severe allergic reactions may occur when taking this medication; if symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck develop, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Inflammation of the pancreas, known as acute pancreatitis, may occur; if severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting symptoms appear, visit a hospital immediately. Patients with poor kidney function, dehydration, severe infections, or cardiovascular issues should not use this medication. Particularly, it is essential to stop taking this medication before tests involving iodinated contrast agents and confirm normal kidney function. It is safer for women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, to avoid this medication. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so caution should be exercised when skipping meals, having irregular eating patterns, or engaging in strenuous exercise. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when taken with other blood glucose-lowering medications, necessitating dosage adjustments under medical guidance. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood vitamin B12 levels is required during treatment, and caution is necessary for patients with impaired liver function. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so excessive drinking should be avoided during treatment. For patients undergoing surgery, medication should be discontinued 48 hours before the procedure and resumed only after kidney function has returned to normal. This medication can cause gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, headaches, or upper respiratory infections; if severe joint pain or blistering symptoms occur, inform a doctor immediately. In cases of overdose, general symptomatic treatment along with blood dialysis may be necessary to eliminate the drug. While taking this medication, regular checks of blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, and blood tests should be performed according to the doctor's instructions.
