Patients currently not treated with metformin should begin with an initial dose of 50/500 mg, 1 tablet, taken twice daily, with an increase to 50/1000 mg possible. Patients being treated with metformin should start at 50 mg of sitagliptin twice daily, along with their usual dose of metformin.

Precautions

This medication is used in the treatment of diabetes and contains two ingredients: sitagliptin and metformin. While taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur, so if you experience symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing, you must stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. There is a risk of pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas; therefore, if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal pain occurs, visit a hospital immediately.
