This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in elderly individuals, teenagers, and adults who are lacking in vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is important for bone health, and proper treatment helps maintain strong bones. This drug restores vitamin D levels to normal, preventing and improving bone diseases like osteoporosis or osteomalacia. Thus, it effectively manages vitamin D deficiency issues and contributes to maintaining a healthy life.

How it is given

Adult administration

Used according to a doctor's prescription, adjusting dosage based on the blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D. For adults, administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol by intramuscular injection. Annual dosage should not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

Child administration

For adolescents, administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol by intramuscular injection.

Precautions

This drug contains vitamin D, and overdose can cause side effects. Therefore, total vitamin D intake should be checked when used in conjunction with other treatments or fortified foods containing vitamin D. If blood calcium levels become too high or the amount of calcium excreted in urine exceeds certain criteria, discontinue use of this medication. In case of overdose, immediately stop this medication, reduce calcium intake, ensure adequate hydration, and take measures to promote diuresis. This medication should not be mixed with others and should be used as soon as possible after opening, discarding any leftover drug.
