Improvement of symptoms and urinary flow in benign prostatic hyperplasia, reduction in the need for surgery
This medication is used to improve various symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. It reduces the enlarged prostatic tissue to facilitate urinary flow, which in turn decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention. Additionally, it helps reduce the necessity for surgery, such as prostatectomy, by decreasing prostatic tissue. Overall, this medication effectively improves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Administer 5 mg of Finasteride orally once daily, regardless of meals. Even if symptoms improve, a minimum treatment duration of 6 months is required.
This medication should not be used by children or women. Particularly, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not touch broken pieces of this medication, as it may pose potential risks to the fetus. During treatment with this medication, symptoms of depression or mood changes may occur, so consultation with a healthcare professional is essential if these symptoms arise. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or have certain genetic lactose-related disorders should not use it. Patients with liver function problems should use this medication cautiously, and although it is generally well-tolerated, side effects related to sexual function may occur. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not take this medication, as exposure during pregnancy may affect the fetus. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, so it should not be administered to children. Elderly patients can use this medication similarly to adults, and no specific dosage adjustment is needed. This medication may affect blood test results, so regular tests should be taken, and if there are any abnormal signs, consult a healthcare professional. There is no specific treatment for overdose; however, patients should strictly adhere to the recommended dosage.
