This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as monotherapy, and in cases where blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy despite no previous diabetes medication treatment, it can be used in combination with Metformin. Additionally, this medication is administered in combination if blood sugar control is insufficient with monotherapy of Sulfonylurea, Metformin, Thiazolidinedione, or insulin. When control of blood sugar is difficult even with combination therapy, this medication is added to the combination of Sulfonylurea, Metformin, Thiazolidinedione, or insulin to improve blood sugar control. It is a medication that effectively helps control blood sugar when used alongside various treatment methods.

This medication may cause severe hypersensitivity reactions after administration, so if allergy symptoms are suspected, it should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention should be sought. During the use of this medication, attention should be paid to symptoms of acute pancreatitis, and if pancreatitis is suspected, discontinue the medication and consult healthcare personnel immediately. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. Patients with impaired kidney function need to adjust the dosage of this medication, and periodic kidney function tests are important. There is a risk of hypoglycemia when taking this medication, especially when taken with insulin or Sulfonylurea, so blood sugar should be carefully monitored, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Severe joint pain or bullous skin disorders may occur, so if these symptoms appear, consult a doctor immediately. Pregnant or nursing women are advised to avoid taking this medication, and safety and efficacy have not been confirmed in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Elderly patients may be at risk of impaired kidney function, so dosage adjustments and kidney function monitoring are necessary.
