Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used as an adjunct therapy to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used alone as initial therapy or in combination with metformin if the patient has no previous diabetes treatment experience. Additionally, when adequate blood sugar control is difficult with sulfonylurea, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin alone, this medication can be added to enhance efficacy. If blood sugar control is still insufficient with combination therapy, this medication can be added alongside sulfonylurea and metformin, thiazolidinediones and metformin, or insulin and metformin to achieve better blood sugar control. It is used to assist patients in managing their blood sugar in various treatment combination scenarios.
This medication is administered once daily at a dosage of 100 mg as monotherapy or in combination therapy with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. This medication can be taken regardless of meals. For patients with renal impairment, dosage adjustment is necessary: - Mild to moderate renal impairment (eGFR 45~90 mL/min/1.73 m2) does not require dosage adjustment. - Moderate renal impairment (eGFR 30~45 mL/min/1.73 m2) requires ,
This medication may cause serious allergic reactions in some patients; if skin rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or neck occurs after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. During treatment with this medication, symptoms of pancreatitis may occur, so if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort develops, inform medical personnel immediately. This medication should not be taken by patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis; it should also be avoided by those with hypersensitivity to this medication or its components. Patients with reduced kidney function may experience delayed excretion of this medication; therefore, dosage adjustment is necessary and should be followed under a physician's guidance. Mild adverse reactions such as cold symptoms, headache, and rhinitis may occur during the use of this medication, and caution is needed especially when taking it in combination with other diabetes medications due to the risk of hypoglycemia. This medication is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and safety in children and adolescents under 18 years has not been established. Elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function, so it is advisable to check kidney function before administration and undergo regular kidney function tests during treatment. In case of overdose, visit a medical facility immediately for appropriate treatment, as this medication can be partially removed through hemodialysis. There may be interactions with certain medications when taken in combination, so it is essential to inform medical personnel about any other medications currently being taken. If symptoms such as joint pain or skin blistering occur during the use of this medication, consult a physician immediately to receive appropriate care.
