Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, serious allergic reactions may occur during the use of this medication, so if skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occurs, you must stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, can rarely occur, so if severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occurs, you should visit the hospital immediately. The metformin in this medication may cause lactic acidosis, a rare but serious metabolic disorder, so symptoms such as sudden muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, or abdominal pain must be reported immediately to a healthcare professional. Patients with poor kidney function, dehydration, severe infections, or heart failure should not take this medication, and it must be temporarily discontinued before surgery or examinations using iodinated contrast agents. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood tests are required during the use of this medication, as vitamin B12 deficiency may occur, and vitamin supplementation may be necessary if needed. There is also a risk of hypoglycemia, so meals should be taken regularly, and caution should be exercised regarding hypoglycemic symptoms when combined with other hypoglycemic agents. Excessive alcohol consumption or vigorous exercise may increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so it is advisable to avoid them. Finally, if bullous skin disorders or severe joint pain occur during medication use, consult a doctor immediately.
