This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially for erosive reflux esophagitis. It helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is effective for the treatment and prevention of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers when combined with antibiotics for eradicating Helicobacter pylori. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers related to the intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which is especially important for patients requiring continuous analgesic treatment. Additionally, it can be utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is widely used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and symptom improvement.
