Adults · Children
Adult dosage
For the treatment of hyperlipidemia, the recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily, and for patients requiring greater LDL-cholesterol reduction, it may start at 20 mg or 40 mg once daily. This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgeries, and stable angina in adults with various risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. It also contributes to the reduction of risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgeries, heart failure hospitalization, and angina in patients with confirmed heart disease. It is used to treat hyperlipidemia by effectively lowering total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, while increasing good HDL-cholesterol levels. It is also used as an adjunct to diet in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia to reduce LDL-cholesterol levels. This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and improve blood lipid levels.
