Chronic persistent hepatitis refers to a condition where there is prolonged inflammation of the liver resulting in continuously elevated SGPT levels. This condition can impair liver function, thus requiring proper treatment and management. This medication is used in chronic persistent hepatitis to aid in improving liver function and alleviating inflammation to help maintain a healthy liver status.

How to take

Adult dose

Usually, 1 capsule per dose, 3 times a day after meals for adults.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with complete bile duct obstruction. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Patients with chronic active hepatitis or cirrhosis should take caution when using this medication. Patients with hypokalemia, severe pancreatic disease, peptic ulcers, and gallstones should also use this medication cautiously. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur when taking this medication. Rarely, abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, and upper abdominal discomfort may also be experienced. Allergic reactions such as itching and rashes may occasionally occur, and in such cases, the use of antihistamines may relieve the symptoms. Transient jaundice may occur; in this case, stopping the medication or using jaundice treatment agents will resolve the symptoms. Additionally, rare occurrences of systemic fatigue or dizziness may be present. This medication should be taken strictly according to the prescribed dosage and administration. If symptoms do not improve after taking for up to 8 weeks or if abnormal symptoms appear, one must consult a doctor or pharmacist without fail. Also, keep this medication out of reach of children. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised not to take this medication as harmful effects on the fetus have been reported in animal studies. Moreover, when taken with oral antidiabetic medications, the effects of those diabetes medications may be enhanced, so patients currently taking such medications should use them with caution.
