This medication is used to relieve pain and stiffness associated with musculoskeletal disorders such as painful muscle spasms, frozen shoulder syndrome, pericapsulitis of the shoulder joint, and lower back pain. It is also effectively utilized to treat symptoms of spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, and cerebral palsy. It helps improve muscle stiffness and pain in various post-surgical or post-traumatic sequelae as well as different cerebrospinal diseases. This drug contributes to making the daily life of patients more comfortable by relieving overall muscle stiffness and pain. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of muscle stiffness and painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

Epersone hydrochloride is administered orally as 50 mg 3 times a day after meals. The dosage may be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For instance, individuals allergic to this drug or those with myasthenia gravis should not use it. Additionally, patients with lactose intolerance, hereditary lactose digestion enzyme deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Caution is also required for those allergic to soybean oil, soybeans, or peanuts. When using this medication, it should be administered cautiously to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to drugs, patients with poor liver function, and those with lipid metabolism issues such as hyperlipoproteinemia, diabetic dyslipidemia, or pancreatitis. During the course of taking this medication, rare shock symptoms may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and regular checks are necessary as there may be abnormalities in liver or kidney function. Various side effects such as anemia, skin rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, dyspepsia, urinary retention, etc., can occur, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. Particularly, if symptoms such as toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome, which is a serious skin adverse reaction, occur, stop taking the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Taking this medication may cause drowsiness, weakness, and decreased concentration, so it's advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Patients with lipid metabolism issues should regularly check their blood lipid levels and adjust the medication dosage accordingly. Caution is also needed when taking this drug in conjunction with similar medications due to the potential for neurological symptoms. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, and those who are breastfeeding should ideally avoid taking it or discontinue breastfeeding.
