This medication is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia, and it is vital to consult a healthcare professional to identify the underlying causes and treatment options before use. Sexual activity may impose stress on the heart, so caution is particularly necessary for individuals with cardiovascular conditions. If heart symptoms occur during sexual activity, it should be stopped immediately, and medical attention should be sought. This medication can rarely cause an erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism), so if an erection lasts more than 4 hours, immediate medical assistance must be obtained. Taking this medication with nitrates or nitric oxide donors can dangerously lower blood pressure, thus it is essential to inform healthcare providers if such medications are being taken and to avoid concurrent use. Patients who have recently experienced cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, unstable angina, heart failure, uncontrollable hypertension or hypotension, or stroke should not take this medication. Patients with hereditary retinal diseases or allergies to any components of this medication should also refrain from use. It is safer not to combine this medication with other erectile dysfunction treatments, and individuals with specific genetic lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with severely impaired renal or liver function, or those taking antihypertensive medications should exercise caution when taking this medication and may require dose adjustments. Side effects may include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, myalgia, facial flushing, and other symptoms. Serious cardiovascular adverse reactions or visual and auditory disturbances have been reported rarely. If sudden vision loss or hearing reduction occurs during treatment, it is critical to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Caution is needed when taking this medication with alcohol, as it may increase blood pressure lowering and dizziness. In case of overdose, standard treatment should be provided, and blood dialysis is ineffective in removing this medication. Store out of reach of children and in its original packaging for safety.
