Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension and stage 2 hypertension
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or losartan. It is also applicable as initial therapy when combination therapy is required to achieve target blood pressure in patients with stage 2 hypertension. Therefore, it is effectively used in managing hypertension that is difficult to control.
The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, 5/50 mg of this medication is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 2 weeks of treatment, the dose may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.
The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under the age of 18, thus administration is not recommended.
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. If pregnancy is confirmed, discontinuation should occur immediately, and it is safer not to use this drug during pregnancy. Caution is necessary for patients with reduced blood volume or those on diuretics, as hypotensive symptoms may appear when starting this medication. Use should be avoided in patients with allergies to the active ingredients or similar medications. Patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, significant aortic stenosis, or in a state of shock should also avoid this medication. Blood pressure may drop suddenly, so activities involving high-risk machine operations, such as working at heights or driving, should be avoided. This drug may have an enhanced effect when used with other antihypertensives, thus it should be taken cautiously under the guidance of a professional. Co-administration with grapefruit juice may potentiate the drug's effect, so it should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, especially during lactation, as it may pass into breast milk. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years old, so its use is not recommended. In elderly patients, particularly those over 75 years old, initial dosage adjustments may be necessary, and this combination drug may not be appropriate. Overdosage can lead to severe hypotension or heart problems, so caution is essential, and immediate treatment is required in emergencies. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to other containers should be avoided to maintain quality.
