Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension and Stage 2 hypertension
This medication is beneficial for patients with essential hypertension who find it difficult to control blood pressure with amlodipine or losartan alone. It is also used in initial treatment for Stage 2 hypertension patients who need combination therapy to reach the target blood pressure. This effectively manages blood pressure and improves health.
The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). Generally, 5/50 mg of this medication is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled after 2 weeks, it may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, therefore its use is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Various serious side effects can occur, including reduced fetal kidney function, hypotension, and craniosynostosis, so it should not be used during pregnancy. If a pregnant woman needs to take this medication, she must be fully informed of the risks to the fetus, and the fetal condition should be closely monitored through regular ultrasound examinations. Patients with decreased intravascular effective blood volume, such as those on diuretics, may experience hypotension when first prescribed this medication, so caution is necessary. Patients with hypersensitivity to the components of this medication, pregnant and lactating women, those with severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should not be administered this medication. Caution should be exercised when prescribing to patients with decreased intravascular effective blood volume, those on strict salt restrictions, moderate to severe renal impairment, and those with hyperkalemia. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, skin rash may occur, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. When operating hazardous machinery, such as driving or working at heights, caution is necessary due to the risk of accidents from symptoms like dizziness. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should consult healthcare professionals before taking this medication, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. When used in conjunction with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, blood potassium levels may increase, so potassium levels should be monitored regularly. When used with other antihypertensive medications, potentiation of blood pressure-lowering effects may occur, requiring caution in administration. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age due to a lack of established safety and efficacy. In elderly patients, especially those over 75 years of age, it is recommended not to initiate with this medication without guidance from a healthcare professional. Overdose may result in severe hypotension and tachycardia, and emergency treatment is necessary if symptoms are severe. Store out of reach of children, and do not transfer to other containers as it may affect product quality.
