Improves blood pressure control in essential hypertension and stage 2 hypertension
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who are not adequately controlled with monotherapy using amlodipine or losartan. Additionally, it serves as a first-line treatment for stage 2 hypertension patients who require combination therapy to reach their target blood pressure. It aids in hypertension management by improving blood pressure control.
The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). Typically, this medication 5/50 mg is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled after 2 weeks of treatment, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.
The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under the age of 18; therefore, its use is not recommended.
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Caution is advised when administering it to patients with low blood volume, as hypotension may occur, and it is better not to administer it to such patients. This medication should not be used in individuals with allergies to its components, pregnant or nursing women, those with severe liver dysfunction, severe aortic stenosis, or in a state of shock. Patients with reduced blood volume, impaired kidney function, or hyperkalemia should be administered with caution and monitored closely to avoid exacerbation of these conditions. Dizziness may occur while taking this medication, so it is advisable to avoid operating dangerous machinery such as driving or working at heights. When used in conjunction with other antihypertensive agents, the effect may intensify, so consultation with a healthcare provider is recommended. Taking it with grapefruit juice may increase its blood concentration; hence it is best to avoid concurrent use. It should not be used during pregnancy due to risks to the fetus, and it is unsafe to use while nursing as it can be excreted in breast milk. Its safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients under the age of 18, and its use is not recommended in this group. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and arrhythmias may occur, so it is essential to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and report any unusual symptoms to a healthcare provider immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
