Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension and target blood pressure treatment
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who find it difficult to control their blood pressure with amlodipine or losartan monotherapy alone. It is also effective for patients with stage 2 hypertension who need to start combination therapy from the outset to reach the target blood pressure. Therefore, this drug is used to stabilize blood pressure more reliably in hypertensive patients.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, 5/50 mg of this medication is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 2 weeks of treatment, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years, so the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. There is also potential risk to the fetus in early pregnancy, so women who may become pregnant must consult a doctor before taking it. Patients with reduced intravascular effective blood volume, such as those on diuretics, may experience hypotension, so their condition should be closely monitored before taking this medication. Patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of this medication, pregnant women, nursing mothers, patients with severe hepatic impairment, severe aortic stenosis, and patients in a state of shock should not be administered this medication. Due to the risk of dizziness from blood pressure lowering effects, caution is advised when performing dangerous machinery operations such as high-altitude work or driving. This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension, and during treatment, regular checks on blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium levels should be conducted to ensure there are no abnormalities. Caution is needed when taking potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements concurrently, as they may increase serum potassium levels. Taking this medication with grapefruit juice may intensify blood pressure-lowering effects, so it is advisable to avoid simultaneous intake. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding, especially after the second trimester, as it may pose severe risks to the fetus. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years, so use is not recommended. Elderly patients, especially those over 75 years, may require initial dose adjustments, and this medication may not be appropriate for them.
