This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy of either amlodipine or losartan. It is also used as initial therapy in patients with stage 2 hypertension who require combination therapy to reach target blood pressure. Therefore, this medication effectively aids in the management of hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Generally, 5/50 mg is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 2 weeks, it may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Due to its blood pressure-lowering effects, patients starting this medication may experience dizziness or symptoms of hypotension, so caution is required. Patients with known allergies to the components of this medication, severely impaired liver function, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and patients with severe heart valve disease should not take this medication. Patients with low blood volume or decreased kidney function, and those on strict salt restrictions should be monitored closely when using this medication. Dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, and other neurological symptoms, as well as indigestion, nausea, skin itching, palpitations, etc., may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be reported. When taken with other antihypertensives, the blood pressure-lowering effect may be enhanced, so it should be taken as directed by a physician. Taking it with grapefruit juice can increase the medication's effects, so it is advisable to avoid concurrent consumption. This medication can affect liver and kidney function, so regular tests are required to monitor status. Overdose can lead to severe hypotension or cardiac rhythm abnormalities, so prescribed dosages must be strictly followed. This medication is not recommended for children, adolescents under 18 years, or elderly patients over 75 years. For breastfeeding women, it is safer not to take this medication due to the possibility of excretion in breast milk. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is best not to transfer it to another container.
