View approved original text

This medication is used when blood pressure control is difficult primarily in patients with essential hypertension, as it combines the effects of Amlodipine and Losartan. It is also effective in patients with Stage 2 hypertension who start treatment with a combination drug to reach their target blood pressure. This medication helps to stabilize blood pressure, improving blood pressure management and vascular health.

Usually, this 5/50 mg tablet is administered once daily, and if blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled after 2 weeks, the dosage can be increased to one 10/50 mg tablet daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with low blood volume or those taking diuretics should be cautious as blood pressure may drop too low when first taking this medication. Patients with allergies to the ingredients, severely impaired liver function, severe aortic stenosis, or in shock should not take this medication. Due to the blood pressure-lowering effect of this medication, side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is needed when engaging in hazardous activities like working at heights or driving. During the course of this medication, regular monitoring of liver and kidney function is required to check for abnormalities. This medication may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect when taken with other antihypertensive drugs, so consultation with a doctor is necessary. Amlodipine should be avoided when taken with grapefruit juice, as it may excessively increase the blood pressure-lowering effect. This medication is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy in this population have not been established. Elderly patients over 75 years may face challenges with appropriate dosing of some ingredients, so caution is recommended during initial administration. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication; if confirmed during use, it should be discontinued immediately and a physician consulted. Overdose may lead to severe hypotension or rapid heart rate, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed, and if abnormal symptoms occur, immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided as it may compromise quality.
