How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 1 capsule (4mg) twice daily after breakfast and dinner, or 2 capsules (8mg) once daily with a meal. However, increased plasma concentrations of silodosin have been reported in patients with renal impairment, and plasma concentrations may also increase in patients with hepatic impairment. Therefore, monitor the patient's condition and adjust the dose as appropriate based on symptoms, such as starting treatment at a low dose (1 capsule [2mg] twice daily).

Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication, patients with severely impaired kidney function, patients with significantly reduced liver function, and patients taking certain strong medications should not take this medication. Additionally, it is important for patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic issues to avoid this medication. Caution is required when using this medication in patients with orthostatic hypotension or impaired liver or kidney function. Attention should also be paid to blood pressure changes in patients taking other medications that lower blood pressure. This medication can cause various side effects such as ejaculatory dysfunction, dry mouth, diarrhea, dizziness, nasal congestion, and others; consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary if these symptoms occur. Especially, there is a risk of sudden blood pressure drop leading to fainting, so blood pressure and symptoms should be monitored closely during treatment. This medication can cause a significant decrease in blood pressure if used in conjunction with other alpha-blockers or PDE5 inhibitors, so caution is advised not to take them together. In elderly patients, renal and liver function may be decreased, so it is safer to start with a low dose and monitor the condition. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to another container as this may affect its quality. This medication serves as a symptomatic treatment and does not treat the underlying cause; if it is ineffective, other treatment options should be considered. Lastly, it is essential to confirm the absence of prostate cancer before taking this medication, and it should be reported to a doctor if surgery is planned, as there is a possibility it may affect the eyes during the procedure.
