How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 1 capsule (4mg) twice daily after breakfast and dinner, or 2 capsules (8mg) once daily with a meal. However, increased plasma concentrations of silodosin have been reported in patients with renal impairment, and plasma concentrations may also increase in patients with hepatic impairment. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have experienced allergic reactions to any component of this medication should avoid taking it. Patients with severe renal dysfunction, particularly those with a creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min, should not use this medication. Patients with severely impaired liver function should also avoid taking this medication. Additionally, the combination with certain strong drug metabolism inhibitors may result in dangerously increased blood levels of this medication, so concomitant use should be avoided. This medication contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic issues. Patients with symptoms of orthostatic hypotension should use this medication cautiously, as their symptoms may worsen. Patients with reduced liver or kidney function may have increased blood levels of this medication and should consult their physician before use. Patients currently taking antihypertensives or other alpha-blockers, or PDE5 inhibitors should also be cautious of blood pressure changes when taking this medication. Common side effects that may occur when taking this medication include ejaculation disorder, dry mouth, diarrhea, dizziness, nasal congestion, and headache. In severe cases, fainting or liver dysfunction may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, one should consult a healthcare provider immediately. During treatment, blood pressure may suddenly drop, so it is important to rise slowly when standing, and to take care while driving or performing hazardous tasks. In the event of an overdose, a significant drop in blood pressure may occur, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to. This medication's symptoms resemble those of prostate cancer, so the presence of prostate cancer must be confirmed before use. Patients scheduled for cataract surgery should inform their healthcare provider as intraoperative floppy iris syndrome may occur. The elderly may be at higher risk for decreased liver and kidney function, so treatment should begin at a lower dose and be closely monitored.
