This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly lowers the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina in adults with various risk factors for coronary heart disease and patients with type 2 diabetes. It is also effective in reducing the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction and stroke, managing post-angioplasty, and decreasing the risk of hospitalization due to congestive heart failure. In the treatment of hyperlipidemia, it lowers the levels of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol levels, thereby improving health. It is also used in the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia in pediatric patients, contributing to lowering cholesterol levels. Thus, it is effectively used to improve cardiovascular health.
