This medication is used for the treatment of peptic ulcer diseases, including gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It also treats the bleeding symptoms caused by hemorrhagic gastritis and acute stress ulcers. It is effective for complicated gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps improve gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, redness, swelling) during acute exacerbation of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. This medication treats the damage to the gastric mucosa and alleviates symptoms to improve the patient’s digestive health.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or similar drugs. Additionally, it contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity, those with kidney or liver dysfunction, patients with heart disease, and the elderly should use this medication cautiously. This medication can cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions, blood disorders, skin and mucous membrane diseases, liver dysfunction, muscle issues, heart rhythm disturbances, consciousness disorders, kidney issues, and pneumonia, so symptoms should be closely monitored. If side effects are suspected, use should be discontinued immediately, and medical advice should be sought. During treatment, symptoms should be monitored closely, and the minimum effective dose should be used. If there is no efficacy, it is advisable to switch to other treatment methods. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the oral mucosa, so it must be swallowed with water. Patients undergoing hemodialysis need to be careful when using this medication together with phosphate binders. Drug interactions can occur when taken with other medications, particularly certain antifungal agents or antineoplastic agents, which may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so it should be discussed and adjusted with healthcare providers. The elderly may require a dose reduction or increased dosing intervals since the drug may remain in the body longer due to diminished kidney function, so cautious use is recommended. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication after carefully considering its risks and benefits, and nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding since the drug can be passed through breast milk. Safety has not been sufficiently established for children, so avoiding use is recommended. Lastly, this medication can mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so it should only be used after confirming that there is no gastric cancer.
