Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Additionally, it helps treat kidney disease in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is effective in protecting kidney function in hypertensive and diabetic patients. This medication plays a crucial role in blood pressure control and slowing the progression of kidney disease. It will assist patients in improving blood pressure management and kidney health.
This medication is recommended to be taken once daily at the same time, 50 mg orally, regardless of meals. Maximum blood pressure-lowering effects appear 3 to 6 weeks after starting treatment. If the treatment effect is insufficient, the dose may be split into two daily doses or increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily. For hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes, the dose is typically 50 mg once daily and may be increased to 100 mg depending on blood pressure.
Children and adolescents aged over 6 years with a weight between 20 kg and less than 50 kg should receive 25 mg once daily and may be increased to a maximum of 50 mg. For children and adolescents weighing over 50 kg,
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with severely impaired liver function, hereditary angioedema, or certain genetic lactose metabolism disorders. Particular caution is required when administering this medication to elderly patients, those with reduced kidney function, or patients with hyperkalemia, and regular monitoring of blood pressure and electrolyte levels in the blood is necessary. This drug may cause various side effects, including muscle cramps, dizziness, cough, and upper respiratory infections, and any unusual symptoms should be discussed with healthcare providers. Serious allergic reactions, such as angioedema, can occur rarely, so if symptoms such as swelling of the lips or face or difficulty breathing appear, immediate treatment should be sought. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform healthcare providers if you are currently taking other medications before starting this drug. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to take this medication; if necessary, consult a professional before use. This medication should not be given to children, particularly those under 6 years old or with severely impaired kidney function. During treatment, blood pressure may drop suddenly, so if symptoms such as dizziness or loss of consciousness occur, notify healthcare providers immediately. Avoid taking potassium supplements or foods containing potassium indiscriminately while using this medication to prevent hyperkalemia. Store this medication safely out of reach of children, and do not transfer it to another container.
