Do not administer this medication to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding or mechanical obstruction, as it may stimulate gastrointestinal motility. Patients with certain tumors such as pheochromocytoma should not take this medication, as it may raise blood pressure. Patients who have had allergic reactions or side effects to this medication should not use it. Patients with epilepsy, manic episodes, or in a manic phase of bipolar disorder should not take this medication. Patients with breast-related disorders should be cautious, as this medication may increase prolactin secretion, worsening breast issues. This medication contains lactose, and patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic issues should not take it. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with hypertension, and overdosing in children should be avoided as extrapyramidal symptoms may occur. Elderly patients should be careful with the dosage and administration interval, as reduced kidney function may lead to increased drug concentrations. This medication may cause amenorrhea, excessive milk secretion, gynecomastia, and other endocrine dysfunctions, so administration should be stopped immediately if abnormal symptoms occur. Rare extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and anxiety may occur, and if these symptoms are present, the medication should be discontinued. Prolonged use may result in involuntary movements around the mouth, which may persist even after discontinuation of the medication. Gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Cardiac side effects such as hypertension or arrhythmias may occur, so caution is advised. A severe side effect known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome may occur, so if symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, or altered consciousness appear, immediate medical attention is required. If allergic reactions such as rashes or swelling occur, the medication should be discontinued, and symptoms such as warmth, fatigue, insomnia, drowsiness, and dizziness may be present. Patients taking this medication are advised to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Caution should be exercised as this medication may interact with other drugs, especially when taken with anticholinergics, analgesics, psychiatric medications, and cardiac medications. Uncertainty about safety has been noted for pregnant and breastfeeding women regarding their fetus or neonate, and they should not take this medication. Elderly patients should be particularly cautious about the occurrence of side effects due to increased drug concentrations from decreased kidney function. This medication can suppress vomiting symptoms, so the cause of vomiting should be accurately identified before use. Animal studies have reported reproductive dysfunction and increased tumor risk, so caution is needed for long-term use.
