Efficacy & effects

Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in controlling blood sugar for patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication helps control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes and is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies. It can be administered alone, but in cases where there is no previous experience with diabetes medications and blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy, it may be combined with metformin. Additionally, when blood sugar control is insufficient with monotherapy using sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, this medication is administered in combination. Even when multiple medications are used together, if sufficient blood sugar control is challenging, this medication is added to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Thus, this medication is used to improve blood sugar control in various treatment situations.
