Efficacy & effects

Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication is used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be used as monotherapy as initial treatment, and if blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy, it may be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, it can be administered as an adjunct therapy when sufficient blood sugar control is not achieved with monotherapy of sulfonylurea, metformin, thiazolidinedione, or insulin. Even in cases requiring complex combination therapy, this medication aids effective blood sugar management. Therefore, this medication effectively improves blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Such reactions can occur within the first 3 months after taking the medication, so if symptoms such as skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. While taking this medication, acute pancreatitis may occur, so inform medical personnel immediately if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occur.
