Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral conjunctival diseases, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections of the eye, or chronic blepharitis. Additionally, patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should not be administered it. It is not recommended for use in patients with corneal epithelial erosion or ulcers, patients with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and infants under 2 years of age; if it must be used, it should be administered with extreme caution. Prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure, leading to optic nerve damage or vision loss, thus regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. This medication may induce herpes keratitis, fungal keratitis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection, so immediate proper treatment is required if such symptoms occur. Using it on corneal ulcers or injuries can risk corneal perforation and caution should be exercised. In rare cases, long-term use may lead to cataracts, and immune function suppression may increase the risk of secondary eye infections. Acute purulent eye infections may cause hidden or worsening inflammation, so caution is warranted. Side effects may include eye congestion, mydriasis, conjunctival congestion, accommodation paralysis, and eyelid drooping. The phosphate components in the eye drops may rarely cause corneal calcification in patients with severe corneal damage, warranting caution. Post-cataract surgery, wound healing may be delayed and there may be potential for blister formation. Long-term use may inhibit pituitary and adrenal cortical function, so monitoring is required. If hypersensitivity symptoms appear, use should be immediately stopped. Using this medication without a doctor's diagnosis when the eyes are congested poses a risk of blindness, so it must be used under professional guidance. Patients with a history of herpes simplex should undergo frequent slit-lamp examinations while using this medication. For prolonged use exceeding 10 days, regular intraocular pressure checks should be performed, particularly in children or uncooperative patients. This medication is not effective for certain keratitis, so it should not be used if such diseases are suspected. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens beyond 48 hours, use should be immediately discontinued and a physician consulted. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before instilling this medication and can reinsert them at least 30 minutes later. Temporary blurring of vision may occur during use, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Infection with varicella or measles while using this medication may have severe consequences, so it is essential to check medical history and vaccination status, take measures to prevent infections, and seek immediate medical care if infected. Careful monitoring is required particularly for children and patients taking CYP3A4 inhibitors due to an increased risk of systemic side effects. This medication may increase systemic exposure and the risk of side effects when used in conjunction with certain drugs, so it should only be used after consulting a professional. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should avoid long-term or frequent use, and breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication or discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been established, so caution is warranted with use. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological function, so they must use this medication with greater caution. This medication is for ophthalmic use only; care must be taken to ensure that the tip of the container does not come into direct contact with the eye during instillation. Before use, the medication should be thoroughly shaken, and it is advisable to avoid sharing to prevent contamination. Store out of the reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and keep in a cool place. Do not transfer to another container to maintain quality, and it is preferable to store the bottle upright.
