Treatment of erectile dysfunction
This medicine is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is effective when there is sexual stimulation and is not suitable for women. Therefore, it helps men improve the symptoms of erectile dysfunction.
Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10 mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10 mg does not provide a sufficient effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily. Immediately after removing this medicine from its individual package, place it on the tongue and allow it to dissolve; take it without water. Long-term safety following extended daily dosing has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts for more than a day, continuous daily administration of this medicine is strongly discouraged. [See sections 1. Warnings and 11.1) Pharmacodynamic properties] Use in older men Dosage adjustments are not necessary in older patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10 mg. [See section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties] Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose is 10 mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Since clinical data on the safety of this medicine in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk when prescribing it. There are no data on administering doses higher than 10 mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See sections 3. Use with caution in the following patients and 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties] Use in men with diabetes No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with diabetes.
Use in children and adolescents This medicine should not be used in people under 18 years of age.
This medicine is for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and you must confirm the cardiovascular condition and the cause of erectile dysfunction through a doctor's diagnosis and physical examination before taking it. Sexual activity may put a strain on the heart, so patients with cardiovascular diseases should consult a doctor before taking this medicine and should immediately stop and inform the hospital if cardiac-related symptoms occur during sexual activity. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical help, as failure to treat can result in penile tissue damage or loss of erectile function. Taking this medicine with nitrate compounds or NO donors can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, so these medications should not be used while taking this medicine. Patients with recent cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, stroke, or heart failure should not take this medicine. Patients with hereditary retinal diseases or hypersensitivity to this medicine should also avoid it, and it is not recommended to use it in conjunction with other erectile dysfunction treatments. Patients with penile deformities or certain blood disorders, or severe renal or hepatic impairment should use this medicine with caution. Particularly when used in combination with alpha blockers or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, there is a risk of increased drug concentrations or hypotension, so caution is necessary. This medicine is primarily metabolized in the liver, and the drug concentration may increase in patients with impaired renal or liver function, so dosage adjustment may be needed. Common side effects reported in clinical trials include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, myalgia, flushing, and others, most of which are mild to moderate. Rarely, cardiovascular abnormalities, vision or hearing loss, priapism, and allergic reactions have been reported, and if these symptoms occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. This medicine should not be used in women, children, or neonates, and safety during pregnancy has not been established. Taking this medicine with alcohol can cause blood pressure drops or dizziness, so caution is advised. In the case of overdose, standard emergency treatment should be implemented, and the drug is difficult to remove through blood dialysis. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children and is best stored in its original packaging. The effect on driving or operating machinery is minimal, but individual differences may cause dizziness, so caution is necessary.
