This medicine helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Especially in adults with several risk factors for coronary heart disease and patients with type 2 diabetes, it decreases the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. Additionally, it lowers the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgeries, or angina in patients with existing coronary heart disease. For patients with hyperlipidemia, it reduces cholesterol and triglyceride levels while increasing good cholesterol (HDL), enhancing the effects of dietary therapy. It is also used to lower total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Therefore, this medicine is used to improve the management of cardiovascular diseases and hyperlipidemia.
