Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with urinary retention, severe gastrointestinal diseases, myasthenia gravis, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Additionally, it should not be administered to individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, patients undergoing hemodialysis, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, and patients with certain genetic lactose metabolism disorders. Caution is advised when using this medication in patients with bladder outlet obstruction at risk of urinary retention, gastrointestinal obstructive diseases, those with risk of decreased gastrointestinal motility, severe kidney dysfunction, and moderate liver dysfunction. Dose restrictions are required when used concomitantly with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, and dry eyes may occur when taking this medication, especially serious gastrointestinal side effects may arise when administered in high doses. Some patients may experience severe allergic reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis, requiring immediate cessation of medication and appropriate medical treatment. This medication may cause heart-related side effects in patients with QT prolongation syndrome or hyperkalemia; caution is advised, especially when driving or operating machinery due to risks of drowsiness or blurred vision. When used in conjunction with other anticholinergic medications, effects may be enhanced, or side effects may worsen; thus, following a physician's directions is crucial, as it may reduce the effectiveness of certain gastrointestinal motility agents. The safety of this medication in pregnant women has not been established and must be used cautiously during pregnancy. Nursing mothers should avoid use, as this medication can be excreted in breast milk and may affect the baby. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been confirmed and use should be avoided. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision may arise; appropriate treatments, including activated charcoal, should be administered if necessary. Finally, this medication has not demonstrated genotoxicity, and studies in animals have reported no adverse effects on reproductive ability or tumor development.
