Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis, etc.), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and maintenance therapy effective in preventing rebleeding of gastric ulcers.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially for the long-term maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It aids in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers in conjunction with antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. It is also utilized as a short-term therapy for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms, especially pain and discomfort, associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Continuous use in patients on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is for the treatment of gastric ulcers and the prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Finally, this medication is effective in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and as maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - For the treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, continue for an additional 4 weeks. - For long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: administer 20 mg once daily. - For symptom treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older should be administered the same as adults. No dosing experience is available for children under 12 years.
This medication should not be administered to patients who have allergies to specific components or benzimidazole derivatives. Additionally, patients with allergies to penicillin and macrolide antibiotics should use caution. Patients taking specific heart-related medications or antivirals and those with a history of myocardial infarction or who are breastfeeding should avoid using this medication. Patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to Yellow No. 5 should use this medication cautiously. This medication can cause various side effects, commonly including headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. Rarely, serious side effects may occur, such as blood cell reduction, hypersensitivity reactions, hypomagnesemia, mental confusion, liver dysfunction, skin rashes, and others, so if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate consultation with medical personnel is advised. Regular checks are needed for long-term usage, especially if taken for more than one year, paying attention to magnesium levels and the risk of fractures. This medication reduces stomach acid and can increase bacterial growth in the stomach, thus increasing the risk of diarrhea and infections. There are many drug interactions, therefore when combined with specific drugs, follow the directives of medical personnel, and it should not be co-administered with some medications. During pregnancy, safety data is limited, so a consultation with a doctor is required before use, and it is recommended not to use while breastfeeding. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, thus treatment should be administered as per symptoms, and it should be stored out of reach of children.
Urticaria, severe swelling, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock, severe rash with high fever, blistering, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, bronchospasm, difficulty breathing, respiratory distress, asthma attacks, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS syndrome, rhabdomyolysis, severe edema, severe headache, seizure, loss of consciousness.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
