Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance therapy, combination therapy with antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori infection-related gastrointestinal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
This medication is used for the treatment of ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, and it is effective in alleviating the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It also aids in the long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease and is used in combination with antibiotics for patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori. It is applicable to diseases related to excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This drug is used for the improvement and treatment of various gastrointestinal-related disease symptoms.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: Administer 10 mg orally once a day. Depending on the symptoms, 20 mg can be administered orally once a day. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10 mg or 20 mg orally once a day for 4 to 8 weeks. If not healed after 8 weeks, an additional 10 mg or 20 mg can be administered orally twice a day for another 8 weeks. Symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions, patients who are allergic to certain antibiotics, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with poor liver function or elderly patients, those with a history of drug hypersensitivity, and patients allergic to the dye included in this medication should use it with caution. Various side effects such as skin rash, itching, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, heart problems, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological issues, respiratory problems, muscle pain, skin abnormalities, visual problems, and urinary tract issues may occur while taking this medication, so if symptoms arise, consult a doctor immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are required during long-term use, and extra caution is needed for those taking the medication for more than one year. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, if you are taking other medications, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist. It is particularly important to exercise caution when used in combination with certain antibiotics or antiviral drugs. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, its safety has not been established, so its use should be avoided, and elderly patients may be more susceptible to side effects due to impaired liver function. It is advisable not to use this medication in children due to the lack of established safety. In case of overdose, there are no specific antidotes, so therapeutic and supportive measures according to the symptoms are necessary, and the tablet should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing. When storing, keep it in a tightly sealed container away from children's reach, and do not transfer it to another container. Be cautious while driving or operating machinery as drowsiness or dizziness may occur. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of fractures related to osteoporosis and may cause hypomagnesemia, which requires monitoring and supplementation of magnesium levels if necessary. Additionally, this medication can inhibit gastric acid secretion, potentially raising the risk of certain bacterial infections; thus, consult medical personnel immediately if symptoms such as diarrhea persist.
