This medication is used for pain-related spasms accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, such as lumbar pain, cervical shoulder syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and degenerative spine disease.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

As chlorzoxazone, take 200-400 mg orally 3-4 times a day. The dose should be adjusted as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may rarely cause severe liver damage. If you experience fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, changes in urine color, jaundice symptoms, or elevated liver function test results while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Patients with a history of liver disease should consult a physician before taking this medication. Patients who are allergic to this medication or those who are intolerant should not use it, as well as those with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, or a history of drug allergies should use this medication with caution. If rashes, itching, or hives occur after taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately. Additionally, if neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, staggering, lethargy, or hypersensitivity occur, appropriate measures such as reducing the dosage or discontinuing use should be taken. Abnormal liver function can rarely occur, so symptoms should be observed closely and if abnormal, the medication should be stopped. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain, and there is a rare risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as allergic skin rash, petechiae, angioedema, or anaphylaxis may occur, so caution is warranted. This medication can change urine color due to phenolic metabolites. Drowsiness or diminished attention, concentration, and reflexes may occur during treatment; therefore, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. Interactions may occur if this medication is used with certain psychotropic drugs, central nervous system depressants, or MAO inhibitors, so caution should be taken with dosage reduction and management when taken together. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a physician before taking this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should discontinue breastfeeding if taking it. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so it should be used cautiously only when necessary. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological functions and should take this medication with caution, possibly reducing the dosage.
