Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with certain diseases or conditions. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, or those with infections without appropriate antimicrobial treatment or systemic fungal infections may experience worsened infections if administered this medication. Additionally, this medication should not be used in patients with herpes simplex, herpes zoster, or chickenpox, nor in patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. This medication should be used cautiously in some patients. Those with tuberculosis, keratitis, cataracts, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, thrombosis, and patients who have recently undergone bowel anastomosis are at risk for worsened infections, increased blood pressure, and aggravated osteoporosis, so caution is needed. Patients with diabetes, renal failure, congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism, liver cirrhosis, or severe myasthenia gravis require regular monitoring and caution when using this medication. Long-term use of this medication may result in adrenal insufficiency, increased risk of infections, osteoporosis, peptic ulcers, mental changes, and issues related to muscles and bones, so it is essential to remain vigilant regarding symptoms. While using this medication, symptoms of infection may be masked, and resistance to infection may decrease, so special attention should be paid to infection management. This medication may interact with certain drugs, which could lead to an increase in side effects or decrease in efficacy, so it is vital to inform your healthcare provider of any other medications being taken. Pregnant women or those who might become pregnant should consult their doctor before using this medication, as it may affect the fetus, and nursing women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding if using this medication. In children, side effects such as growth retardation may occur, so the minimal effective dose should be used, and growth should be closely monitored. Elderly individuals are at higher risk for side effects such as infections, diabetes, osteoporosis, and glaucoma, thus requiring special caution and monitoring during administration.
