Treatment of erectile dysfunction
This medication is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and is effective only when sexual stimulation is present. It is not used in women.
For oral administration. Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10mg does not provide an adequate effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be administered at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily. Long-term safety following prolonged daily dosing has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts for more than one day, continuous daily administration of this medicine is strongly discouraged. [See Section 1. Warnings and Section 11.1) Pharmacodynamic properties] Use in elderly men No dosage adjustments are required in elderly patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dosage adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10mg. [See Section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Since clinical data on the safety of this medicine in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk when prescribing it. There are no data on administering doses higher than 10mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See Section 3. Use with caution in the following patients and Section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with diabetes No dosage adjustment is required in patients with diabetes.
This medicine should not be used in persons under 18 years of age.
This medication is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction; prior to taking it, a doctor's diagnosis and physical examination must confirm the underlying cause. As sexual activity may put strain on the heart, the doctor must assess whether cardiovascular status is stable. If any heart-related symptoms occur during sexual activity, it should be stopped immediately and the doctor should be consulted. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, immediate medical assistance should be sought, as untreated cases can lead to penile tissue damage and permanent erectile dysfunction. Taking this medication with nitrate medications or NO donors may dangerously lower blood pressure. If you are taking these medications, you must inform your doctor and should not use them together. Patients with significant cardiovascular conditions, such as myocardial infarction, angina, or stroke, or those who have recently experienced such conditions should not use this medication. Patients with certain inherited retinal diseases or allergies to this medication or its components should also avoid its use. Using this medication with other erectile dysfunction treatments is not recommended due to uncertain safety and efficacy. Patients with significant liver or kidney dysfunction need to use this medication with caution, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. When co-administered with alpha-blockers or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, the risk of side effects may increase, so follow your doctor's instructions. Side effects during use may include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, flushing, dizziness, coughing, diarrhea, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory infections, gastroesophageal reflux disease, abdominal pain, gastritis, facial swelling, itching, thrombocytopenia, drowsiness, sensory impairment, insomnia, paresthesia, dizziness, sweating, chest burning, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, malaise, neck stiffness, urethral pain, renal colic, dry mouth, decreased hemoglobin, and increased hemoglobin.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and it is safe to store at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain the medication's effectiveness.
