Efficacy & effects

Nutritional improvement through calorie and essential fatty acid supply when oral or enteral nutrition is not possible.

View approved original text

This medication is used to provide necessary calories, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and omega-3 fatty acids for children over 2 years of age and adults when oral intake or nutritional supply via the gastrointestinal tract is difficult. It helps patients maintain adequate nutrition and improves energy and nutrient deficiencies.

How it is given

Adult administration

Children over 12 years and adults - Normal nutritional status or patients with mild metabolic stress: Amino acids 0.6-0.9 g/kg per day (Nitrogen 0.10-0.15 g/kg) - Patients under moderate to severe metabolic stress: Amino acids 0.9-1.6 g/kg per day (Nitrogen 0.15-0.25 g/kg) Dose: 20-40 mL/kg per day, Amino acids 0.6-1.3 g/kg (Nitrogen

Child administration

Children aged 2-11 years Dose: Regular adjustments up to 40 mL/kg per day Administration rate: Must not exceed 3.0 mL/kg per hour Recommended administration period: 12-24 hours Minimum administration period: Maximum dose of 1 day.

Precautions

This medication must be used under the direction of a physician. If symptoms of anaphylactic reaction occur, such as fever, chills, rash, or difficulty breathing, administration should be discontinued immediately. When used in conjunction with intravenous calcium-containing preparations, precipitates may form if mixed with Ceftriaxone, so the same infusion device should not be used simultaneously, and the infusion line should be cleaned before and after infusion. Use with caution in premature or low-birth-weight infants as it may cause an increase in plasma free fatty acid levels, which can be especially risky in premature infants with severe respiratory disease. Do not administer to patients with hypersensitivity to fish, eggs, soybeans, peanuts, or those with severe hyperlipidemia, liver dysfunction, blood coagulation disorders, renal failure, acute shock, or uncontrolled hyperglycemia. Exercise caution in states that may affect lipid metabolism such as renal failure, diabetes, liver dysfunction, and sepsis. During administration, blood triglyceride levels should be monitored periodically to prevent hyperlipidemia syndrome from excessive dosing. Excessive doses of amino acids and glucose may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and hyperglycemia, so the recommended doses and rates should be adhered to. This medication contains soybean oil, fish oil, and egg yolk phospholipids, which may rarely cause allergic reactions, so patients with a history of allergies should exercise caution. Strict aseptic procedures must be followed before and after administration to prevent infections, and signs of thrombophlebitis at the administration site should be monitored frequently. The safety of this medication has not been established in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and it should only be used if the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks. In cases of overdose, the infusion rate should be slowed or stopped, and appropriate treatment such as insulin administration or dialysis should be pursued if necessary. This medication should be stored below 25 degrees Celsius and should be used immediately after mixing, or if refrigerated, within 24 hours.
